A beautifully engraved antique vesta case — once worn on a lady’s chatelaine and used to carry matches. 1.5" tall x 1.25" wide.
The floral etching has depth and movement, surrounding a central monogram cartouche. The piece opens to hold matches and retains its original striker along the bottom edge. The attached ring would have allowed it to hang from a belt or chain.
There is a dent on the monogram side (shown in photos), consistent with age and use.
